Spray Parks! Spray Parks! Spray Parks!

Spray Parks! Splash Parks! Spray Grounds! Whatever you call them, they are must for cooling down on a hot summer day. When my oldest was small, there was only one FREE spray park and it was small. Now they seem to be popping up everywhere!
I can't believe I have never blogged about the spray park. It's been one of our favorites for several years!!! However, I'm afraid it won't be very popular with my kids for too much longer as they are getting older and getting to be the BIG kids at the spary park!
This is one activity that is on our summer calendar several times. We even go for a while if it's not on the calendar. The closest one and our favorite is the Kiawanis sprayground @ Highlander Park in Dunedin.
The Kiawanis Sprayground opened two years ago and is well kept. This sprayground not only has water geysers and spray hoses, but it is equipped with gushers, dump & pour buckets, a slide, water cannons, and much more. The park is opened from 9 a.m. - sunset everyday! Besides the sprayground there is a swing set, playground, and field to run around or play ball in. There are also restrooms for public use.
This is a must do activity for a hot summer day. It is recommended by my entire family!!!
MOM TIP's:
1. Arrive at 9 a.m. to avoid crowds. Most daycares seem to be there between 11:00 - 2:00.
2. Before your child rushes out of the sprayground and to the playground, have them dry off. The slides are VERY SLIPPERY when the kids slide in their wet suits. There is a "drop-off" at the end of each slide and my own child hurt his back one time. I have also witnessed two children sliding right off the end and hitting the back of their head. Each time was caused by sliding in wet suits!
Here are the other two FREE spraygrounds that we know of. We have been to the Oldsmar location and it is nice and shaded, but smaller than Dunedin. We have not been to the St. Petersburg location yet.
1. Cypress Forest Spray Park - Oldsmar, Florida: www.splash-pads.com/cypress-forest-spray-park (You will notice in this article that they have installed parking meters and are charging $5 to park now).
2. Dell Holmes Sray Park - St. Petersburg, Florida: www.splash-pads.com/dell-holmes-spray-park
