6/16/2010 - Ice Cream In A Bag!!!! Why not add a little Math and Science into your summer fun. We made ice cream in a bag and it was TASTY!!! (not to mention fun!!). The kids really loved this activity and asked to do it again. Here is what we did and a simple recipe to follow:
First, we read the ingredients and gathered them on the kitchen table. Next, we followed the recipe directions and took turns measuring the ingredients while using team work to get the ingredients into each baggie.
Materials:
*1 tablespoon of sugar
*1/2 cup of milk
*1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
*6 tablespoons of rock salt
*1 pint sized plastic baggie
*1 gallon sized platic baggie
*ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Fill the large bag 1/2 full with ice. Add the rock salt. Sit bag aside.
2. Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag and seal.
3. Place the small baggie inside of the large baggie and seal tightly.
4. Now...Shake Shake Shake it up!!! (you may want to do this step outside)
5. Shake until mixture is the consistency of ice cream. (usually about 5 min.)
6. Take small baggie out and open.
7. Use a plastic spoon and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
